Hi everyone,

 

Can anyone share their experience in removing and replacing a deployed / used airbag from either drivers or passengers side seat?

I really don't want to cause any damage to the surrounding seat area.

 

So far ....

 

* I know that I need to first disconnect the car battery for 30 mins or so.

 

* I already have vagcom to reset the airbag warning lamp afterwards.

 

 

Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated !!

as far as I knew once a airbag is deployed it rips throu the seat so it then means that it's just as easy to buy a new seat with the airbag already fitted ?

No my friend... the airbag is a plastic surface mounted unit about the size of a small lunchbox. They would appear to be totally servicable items but know one seems to know how, including the people that are actually selling them (which I think is a bit strange!)

 

They can be bought on eBay (other auction sites are available!)
