danicroitor Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Just last week the real left door locking system has stop working using the remote key or any key. A few days before that, from time to time the locking system on that door stopped working but now, doesn't work at all. The rest of the doors are still working but the locking system on the rear left door has stop working, even if a push de lock button on the drivers door. Now I have to lock the door manually. I've checked all the wires on that door and on the pillar but they are all fine. Also I have a problem with all my interior lights, the all stop working. It is possible to be a connection between these to problem? Thanks Quote

Recheck those gaitor wires and connector, wires can break internally and still have insulation on, breakages are common due to the flexing and bad design (not offset) Do you have a door open warning display on your model? Does it say the left rear door is open? WHAT I'm getting at is the door switch may be broken/pushed back. The car thinks the door is open, interior lights come on but timeout/switch off after about 5-10 mins to conserve battery - I'm not sure they will come back on until the car sees the door closed. matmcn Posted June 2, 2013 Report Posted June 2, 2013 Definitely check the cables in the rubber gator. I have had a Sharan and a Galaxy. Both back doors on the sharan and the left back door on this Galaxy have had to have cables repaired. I added another inch or so of cable at the break, soldered and covered with heatshrink tubing. All working ok afterwards. Quote

matmcn Posted July 1, 2013 Report Posted July 1, 2013 Again check the cables in the gaitors on all 4 doors. When I bough this car there were broken wires in the N/S rear, Drivers and the O/S rear door had cables that were looking close to breaking. Quote
Argrdnr Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 I have exactly the same issue, have checked one set of wires in the door, all seems intact, unlocked and locked the door several times, the lock is trying to unlock but clunking and won't release. Going to try and manually open the door. My research has lead to the locking rod fallen off or locking mech is broken. Quote
breen77 Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Until today I could lock my VW Sharan 2005 with the key in the drivers door and pressing the button. The central locking did not work with the key it just locked the drivers door. Today the drivers door was very hard to open with the key and my key got stuck so I forced it round to get he key out now my drivers door when the key is in just turns very easy both clockwise and anticlockwise and does not lock the drivers door. I have to get out of car go round to passenger side open passenger door pressed the button on the key to lock the other 3 doors, boot etc then get into car manually lock the drivers doors then close passenger door. Anyone any ideas what the issue could be? yes wires have broke in the pillar but I have them joined but cant even lock drivers door with key. Quote
