Probably faulty reversing light switch or needs adjusting.

Thanks, how do u adjust it??

you cant! the switch os operated by a pin on the selector mech, this rubs on the switch and wears a groove in the switches softer plastic surface, you can try spacing the pin out a touch by adding a washer to it and increasing its length but this is only a tempary fix

you have to take the switch out so you may as well just bite the bullet and replace it while your there

Somewhere on this forum is a posting from a guy who had the same problem(as do I) and he removed the switch and cut another piece of plastic to fit the end of the switch. He glued it on and it worked. That what I am going to try as soon as I work out how to get at the switch without doing it from underneath. Hope this helps,

Thanks for that but the V6 switch is totally different. It clips in so doesnt need a spanner to fit it. If I had the 2.0 ltr version I could get one for under £20 locally. Its because its the 2.8 V6 engine with the none Ford gearbox.

Cos I own a V6 and anywhere other than local and I might as well buy it from fraud. When I asked why the switch was so expensive I was told that" it was at, the time, the flagship car of the Ford range" I couldn't stop laughing all the way back to the white elephant.
