TheViking53 Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 My V reg 1.9 tdi alhambra's power steering belt needed changing, which my friend has done. He showed me the toothed nut that grips onto the adjusting plate. it was really worn but filed it a little for more grip. Anyway what is the name of this nut??Explaned to seat dealership and they dont know what i mean. Its a nut with loads of teeth on it. Quote

BigDog Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 That's the best bet. They should show you something like the attached, could it be no.15, "hexagon nut, shoudered?"Matt1997 tdi power steering pump.pdf Quote
seatkid Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) Its actually item 16 on that diagram, its a special bolt that has a geared shoulder that engages in the rack cast on the mounting plate. Slacken the nut on the other side, and the other nuts mounting the pump and tighten/loosen the belt by turning the bolt head, then tighten the nuts to lock in that position.
