ghr Posted April 17, 2013 Report Posted April 17, 2013 I;ve managed to do a number of jobs on my Galaxy Mk2 2002 1.9Tdi successfully thanks to this forum e.g. brake pads, air-con condenser, injector loom but if there is a scale of diificulty and the previous work I mentioned is on that scale where is a belt change on that scale? Thanks for any help Quote
f0ster Posted April 18, 2013 Report Posted April 18, 2013 it is slightly more difficult to do, a first time doing a belt kit will take a good four hours, the golden rule, if not sure about the timing marks put your own marks on the pulleys and casing with tipex, and "always" turn it over by hand checking for tight spots, Quote
Bigjeeze Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 It does take around four hours - most of the time is getting to the timing belt. The fitting of the belt etc is quite straighforward - just remember as said to be accurate with your marks. Quote
ghr Posted April 26, 2013 Author Report Posted April 26, 2013 Thanks for the replies. May take the plunge; I'll let you know how it goes. Quote
Alastair Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 My first time at this too, but on a 1999 tdi, although done many other timing belts. What has to come off to get to the belt and are there plastic bits I can break if not careful?, snapping things is the usual hazard with me Quote
