Trislander Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 My x reg mark 2 needs new flywheel I use it as a cab Been quoted around £500 for dual mass and clutch but also quoted £300 for single massMy mate reckons best go for single mass due to the type of work I use the vehicle for (constant stopping and starting) anyone agree or disagree? f0ster Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 if it has a dmf fitted I would definitely replace it with a single mass, cheaper and you will not notice the difference, I fitted a standard flywheel assy in to a bora diesel, no difference noticeable, with some manufacturers you get a a transmission rattle at a certain revs but I have not noticed anything like this with the bora, it is the friction pad in the dmf that wears out allowing it to slap from one point to the other point Quote
daddyfixit Posted April 13, 2013 Report Posted April 13, 2013 cabs need dmf's; constant stop/start is what they were designed for--to make drive take-up smoother and to stop trans rattle on the overrun or little jaunts in traffic. you could do the job £200 cheaper but then find you are wearing out driveshafts or mountings ?? mines also an x-reg 160k, its getting noisy when starting up and I will be going the more expensive route and its the family main car for school runs and the likes. for prices try ces, its a large motor factors in Merseyside/north wales ? or eurocar parts website make sure the clutch slave cylinder is changed at the same time !!! watched a taxi owner refuse to pay to have his replaced while the box was out (approx. £40) only for it to pop the cylinder within a week !!! and yes, he did get charged full labour again...........
