Steering Rack

Hi guys

 

new to this forum, bought a 1999 Galaxy 110 tdi a couple of weeks ago, it has a knock in the steering which after replacing the rack rod end I have found to be coming from the steering rack. How easy is it to replace? Doesn't look to bad as I have access to ramps etc.

 

Also are the all the steering racks on galaxy's mk1's the same, i.e will one from a 2.3 fit my tdi?

Don't know if there the same but when I changed mine it was a bitch of a job and I did mine on a ramp, good luck with that job.

Oh good, well its got to be done so it looks like i'll be having fun changing it over lol

I had to remove my rack a while ago and didn't find it too hard. I dropped the subframe a little to get it out which you have to do to be honest. Get yourself new subframe to body bolts as they are stretch bolts and will have to be replaced.
