Hi all just thought I would share my experience with this issue

My gal started to smell of diesel, which I found was coming from the aux heater. I replaced the glow plug, which is detailed elsewhere in this forum. When I restarted the car, after a few minutes the heater fired up and started to plume grey smoke. Research seemed to suggest the dosing pump may be at fault, but this hadn't happened prior to the glow plug replacement.

What I surmised was that there had been a build up of unburned diesel from when the unit was trying to fire but couldn't because if the failed glow plug.

I simply let it run on the drive and low and behold the smoking eventually stopped and the unit now burns clean. This took about three morning cold start to happen so don't expect instant results.

The neighbours weren't too impressed though.

So before you rush to Frauds with your smoke, give it a moment or three to burn itself off.
