Hi, I have no power to drivers door. I have looked at the loom between the A pillar and the door and reconnected the brown wire which had broken. I thought this would do the job but unfortunetly I still have now power. I have checked fuses and there ok and everything else works other than the drivers door electric. Does any one have any ideas before I pay to take it to the garage which I dont want to do?

Have another look in the door - particularly for a red wire if its an early one same thickness as the brown one. Mine broke but managed to get far enough back in the gaiter you couldn't initally see it. What model/year is it and what doesn't work on the door? (windows? mirrors?)

Sometimes the wires break without the insulation coming apart or at the pillar connector without dropping off. A thorough inspection is required, otherwise its door panel off time and a multimeter......

I must say just from the drivers door though. other windows work from there own door switches ?

Drivers door gets the most use so its usually what you'd expect to fail first.

only thing i can suggest is to investigate the connection between the door and car - its possible if you have taken the connector out that one of the wires has come pushed out of the connector as you have put it back in.

struggling to take out the gator from the a pillar???

It comes out by twisting the connector. It was pretty stiff on mine the first time. The toothed bit should rotate anti-clockwise if i remember correctly as you look at it from the door side. You may find as others have that the connector in the door pillar comes out as you do this so be prepared to get behind it to push it back into place. Theres a retaining ring that holds it in place that you should be able to put back on if it comes off.

Having re-joined at least 4 broken wires and still having problems with central locking, how difficult is it to change the whole loom in the drivers door? and do i have to pay the exorbitant amount that Ford want for the parts?

I was too scared to ring the dealers !!! I have repaired door loom twice and tailgate countless times.

the brown wire was one occasion, but in all I think ive repaired 3 others by splicing in a new wire, soldered and heatshrunk the repairs

I had intended to rewire tailgate months ago but didn't get round to it, sgaf website has an excellent faq section for galaxy repairs
