BRAD Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 (edited) Hi AllI have been looking at putting double din unit in my 2003 Galaxy.I have looked at Sat Nav option, but the cost of fascia and new switches and going into Ford has put me off of this routeHas anyone look at or has cut out the section that is under the cup holders, this would then give me 110mm.I know there would be a bit of bodging required, but not having taken the radio out not to sure about any other problems. mumble_bee Posted March 23, 2013 Report Posted March 23, 2013 apols I havent had a gal in a few years, I have a 57 Sharan, the switch to an aftermarket nav unit was pretty straightforward.. I don't think you need to change your switches, they should already be rectangular right ? looking online it seems the border around the nearly double din unit (top and bottom) are in the way... I know some chaps have previously mentioned the fascia part number and I've heard the price is between 12 and 35 quid... I can't imagine there would be any further cost..(quick search on the forum for this pls.) Quote
BRAD Posted March 23, 2013 Author Report Posted March 23, 2013 The switches are rectangular with round corners to them, I have the silver fascia ,having looked a pictures of Sat Nav fascia they look like square corners in black fascia. Poped over to Halfords to look at double din units and they are 120mm with the trim,so would have to cut out top and bottom. Quote

timpalmer3 Posted November 14, 2015 Report Posted November 14, 2015 I have just removed the factory fit stereo on my mk2.... replaced it with a Pumpkin C0250 double din Android 4.4.4 head unit - just remove the stereo and use a multitool to cut the top and bottom plastic rim, leave the side rims in place..... Got a couple of plastic double din connectors from USA ebay for £10 - they fit a Ford Cougar - screw them on to the sides of the head unit and push into place...... fits fine, works a treat, only perfectionists would need to buy new fascia :) Quote
SilverBeast Posted November 17, 2015 Report Posted November 17, 2015 I believe the standard (non-sat nav) units are 1.75 DIN and that you are correct that the fascia and switches are different for the factory fit sat-nav unit. Quote
