Went to take it off and the centre nut had no resistance to it at all. So changed plan tightened it and noise disappeared after that! Quote
smudger Posted March 17, 2013 Author Report Posted March 17, 2013 thing is brian the cv joint has to come off regardless on drivers side to fit new boot car's done nearly 200k miles and if passengers has gone thinking of just changing them both be one less problem for many years. Quote
chrislloydie Posted March 18, 2013 Report Posted March 18, 2013 I used the company in your ebay link when I replaced the offside driveshaft. It was quicker and easier than messing around trying to change both split boots. Driveshaft came ready to bolt on. Quote

It was quicker and easier than messing around trying to change both split boots. Driveshaft came ready to bolt on. Same here, and same company (about £36 for the driveshaft). I have another sat in the garage as I thought the drivers CV had split too but turned out to be shed loads of grease left from the previous split!! Quote
smudger Posted March 24, 2013 Author Report Posted March 24, 2013 ok brian i replaced the drivers cv boot, and noticed a damp stain on the passengr side on the gear box so when i took the protective under shield off seems the inner passenger cv joint (one going in gear box) the cv boot was off so i checked and its knackered thing one of the bearings has come out as the way it looks is the metal shield keeping bearings in has a lip kinda like bending it with a pair of pliars but the bb size so this is going to need replacing.
