jonny_bravo Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 Morning Everyone,. First post!,. became the owner of a 2005 Galaxy Ghia 130 last night,. so naturally the next step with any car is to join the relevant owners forum ! After a panic not being able to start the car this morn,. realised that the previous owner has lost the chip from one of the keys,. I can see I can pick up a new chip for little cost online. My question is,. I have one other working key plus the plastic emergency key - does the emergency key count as one of the two required for additional key coding? Or am I best leaving it to a dealer to sort (luckily I have a good friend who is a Ford Service manager,. so hopefully get it coded at mates charges ) Thanks for looking Jon Quote
smudger Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 I may be wrong but i am sure the emergencey key only has the cut code on it to get a key cut to use the locks, dont quote me on this but im sure u need at least 2 transponder keys to programme any other by using the car. Quote
SilverBeast Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 I think you will find that if the emergency key will start the car you will be able to use it as one of the keys to program a new key for the immobiliser. Quote
jonny_bravo Posted March 19, 2013 Author Report Posted March 19, 2013 Thanks for the advice, the emergency key does start the engine, so I guess I am good to give it a go. I'll order myself a new chip Quote
