Bredfieldtim Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 I've had a new 1.6 TDCi Galaxy for about 4 months. I'm surprised and pleased with its performance. Accelerates better than I thought it would, happy cruising at high speed and does 41 MPG overall, much of which is local driving. It is frustrating though when trying to reverse slowly, especially up a slight slope, I can't do it smoothly. If I don't touch the accelerator, the car shudders. If I bring the revs up to 1000 rpm, no shudder, but the engine will not maintain a steady speed, not matter how carefully I bring up the clutch. It's almost as if as soon as the car starts to move, the engine electronics sense a slight change in engine speed and applies more power and we get a jerk. Frustrating. Anyone else experienced this? Discussed with the dealer who politely suggested that its the way I drive! There is also a very slight hesitancy from the engine around 1800 rpm in 3rd of 4th gear at constant speed. Yes I'm a perfectionist! Anyone else seen this problem? Quote
gregers Posted February 13, 2013 Report Posted February 13, 2013 maybe its because its a 1.6,i have a smax 2 ltr tdi and unless its really steep really dont need to touch the gas pedal at all. mind you it isnt as good as my old mk2.i could get up to 4 th gear. Quote
Bredfieldtim Posted February 26, 2013 Author Report Posted February 26, 2013 I think you are right about the 1.6. Quote
