I've recently purchased a second hand Galaxy (T Reg) 1.9 TDI. My air con starts off fine, but after about 15 minutes it seems to stop working. The Air con specialist can't work it out ( he thinks it might be that the system/ECU thinks the engine is overheating and then discharges the excess heat to the cooling system). Another feature that seems to be assocaited with this is that one of the cooling fans always comes on and runs for about a minute after turning the ignition off, even if the engine hasn't been running. Ford spend 4 Hrs looking at it and have suugested and new ECU (or is it PMU) @ 435 quid + vat and labour and then they say they can continue testing.

Any help and advice would be appreciated :(

The fan on my 1.9 TDI does exactly the same. I think from memory that this is a standard feature.

Hi There,

Just had exactly the same thing with my Galaxy. When I took it to the Air Con people they at first said no probs as was working fine, but I knew different. Had it replaced today. The good news is that its now beautifully cool in the car. The Bad news is that it cost
