victor meldrew Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 My sons mk 1 petrol sharan occasionally refuses to start and is prone to cutting out.I checked relay 30 and resoldered an obvious dry joint and it started fine.Today the problem has returned, it occasionally cuts out and won't start then after a few tries it starts. It seems to run rough until its warmed up.I need to fix it over the weekend cos he's making silly noises about buying a zafiraWhere should I start? gregers Posted February 9, 2013 Report Posted February 9, 2013 zaffy eh,er i made that silly mistake.if he is used to the size of the sharan he defo wont like the zaffy. im tempted to say take a look at the relay again,as you said it worked after you attempted to fix it,either try fixing it again or buy a new 1. victor meldrew Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 I've had another look at the relay and it seems to be working, now he tells me its cutting out after driving through puddles.I know there's no under tray on it so Im hoping its damp related, when the rain stops ill have another go. gregers Posted February 10, 2013 Report Posted February 10, 2013 ah ha,there is a problem.not advisable to run 1 of these cars without an undertray.there are a few posts on the subject and iirc 1 of them relates to HAVING NO STEERING.especially when going through puddles. think he needs to source 1 asap. victor meldrew Posted February 10, 2013 Author Report Posted February 10, 2013 It was the coil pack tracking, I could only see it in the dark, that's fixed but I managed to break a vac pipe off Quote
