MrT Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 The Front bumper on my Galaxy seems loose just below the front drivers headlight. I can feel it sliding around 5mm up and down. On the passengers side it moves but you can feel it flexing rather than sliding. I have checked underneath and the solid metal beam is rock solid. Looking at the manual the bumper cover is only held on by three screws (plastic rivets on mine)underneath the car and the star bolts under the bonnet. Is there some other sort of mount or rail under the headlight that takes the weight of the bumper cover? I don't want to remove the whole bumper cover unless I have to, as I am bound to mark it or break a clip or two. Quote
jonesal26gc Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Coincidently, my 2003 Galaxy has been in to the dealer this week with an identical problem. We've only had the car 3 months, and I'm sure that it wasn't like this beforehand. The car has only covered 5000 miles. As you might expect, the bodyshop say it's neither damaged nor faulty, 'it's just the way it is' they say.I'm also reluctant to strip it down for myself and so I will be interested in any reply. MrT Posted June 25, 2004 Author Report Posted June 25, 2004 I have not taken it off but I have removed the grilles, the wheel arches and had my hand all round the inside and I cannot find any mount or anything loose. I think it is just the insufficient plastic holdings bending. Quote
jonesal26gc Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I had a MKI Sharan for 7 years and the front bumper was rock solid despite a couple of knocks. I thought designs were supposed to get progressively better, not worse. Quote
