Guest Marc90125 Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Whenever I try to paly a CD I get ERROR 5 on the Radio display. Does anyone know what this means? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Have you got a radio-CD or cassette with a remote CD changer? If a CD-changer, disconnect the lead to it at the changer-end, then wait a few seconds and re-connect. That's how I cured mine.HTHIvor. Quote
Guest nimrod Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 CD ERROR or E5 is the code for internal fault. see your Ford dealer. or try Ivors suggestion and unplug the CD changer to see if it will reset itself? Quote
Guest nelse Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 Just curious at to what cd's you are playing, are they original manufactured ones or copies. I've got a 6 cd in dash changer, i sometimes got this message, usually skipping to another disk then back cured it for a while. I noticed some disks played poorly then i read the manual and that states cdr disks are not supported, only oringinal disks. I tryed to using branded audio cdr's and havn't had the problem since so it seems the cheap generic disks i was using were proving difficult for the unit to read. I have also used branded non audio cdr's with out problems. I copy any cd i wish to play in the car having lost quite a few original cd's following a car theft a few years ago, some proved very difficult to replace, since then i've never carried original disks in the car. Guest Marc90125 Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 I've tried both pucker CD's & copied, both has the same problem. The cd unit will not play the discs, it just cycles thro' all 6 and then gives the error 5. I then can not unload the disc. I have recently purchased another unit off e-bay and I get exactly the same problems. I can't see that both units would have an identical fault so this would imply the fault is not with the CD unit? tedwards Posted July 14, 2004 Report Posted July 14, 2004 Had the same error code on mine, caused by a disc jam. the offending disc was part in the cartridge when it tried to change discs, ended up jamming the whole thing.Tried dismantling, but ended in disaster - far to many moving parts inside. Looked on Ebay but could not find the correct part numbered changer. Ended getting a reconditioned unit from Ford for Quote
