Hi, newbee here.

I am considering replacing my Picasso (92bhp diesel) with a Galaxy purely for caravan towing.

Since towing will be a tiny part of my annual milage, i require a car with good MPG.

I am advised that there is a 115bhp Galaxy which doesn't have engine problems that other Galaxy's have and this is a 1.9 diesel. Recently however, i read that there is another 115 bhp Galaxy which can achieve 50mpg (Govt Figures) but don't know what the respective ages are.

I don't have much cash to spare so it won't be a newish car, but i thought maybe around 04 or 05 plate. So two more questions :- 1. What should i expect to pay for an 04/05 diesel Galaxy?

2. What "weak points" should i be looking for when doing a pre purchase check?

Any factual advice greatly welcome.

the tdi's are more reliable in my opinion.

i had nearly 60 mpg out of my mk2

if you want a tdi they also done a 150bhp version.

if you want to race around like a youngster then get the 2.8 petrol version,
