Darkelf26 Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 ok, Total novice here. I have a MK2 galaxy 1.9TDi. (Thats as far as my knowledge goes). I have a ventilation issue that doesnt seem to exist with other owners of Galaxys that I know. The vents work on all 4 speeds, 1 + 2 are weak and ineffective, I need the vents on 3 or 4 to run any level of demist. If I have it on vents instead of windscreen in cold wet weather the windscreen mists up, If I have it on windscreen the side windows mist up. Now I know that there is a resistor behind the glove box that I can replace but before I do would the experts out there. (Thats everyone here compared to me) suggest anything else that might cause this? Is there a way to get both windscreen and side vents working at the same time or should they already. Hoping someone can help as I got made redundant last year and although I am now working again money is too tight to get a garage to investigate and I didnt win the lottery so cant afford Ford. Heres hoping John Quote
BigDog Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 Hi John, Have you checked / changed your pollen filter? This filter is accessed after removing the bulkhead panel under the windscreen / scuttle, 3 screws. The filter is about 50cm long and 12cm wide, located on the passenger side, behind the wiper mechanism, with a clip on one end (the in-board end). The filter will gradually fill up with dust etc. and the flow reduces. Try searching the forum for "pollen". New one is about £12. It's a bit of a struggle to change. Also if you're getting a major misting up issue then check the passenger footwell and under the seat for damp carpets. If wet, the water is probably coming from a leaking pipe joint near the passenger door A-pillar. Again, lots on this problem on the forum. If the rear washer isn;t working this indicates you probably have this problem. Really easy to fix after you take the plastic covers off the sill and A-pillar. As to setting the side vents, these do work with the screen demister on my car, you just point the up/down and side-side adjustments at the windows? There are some tiny "bleed" vents above tghe main side vents that don't seem to do much - is it these you mean? Matt Quote
Darkelf26 Posted January 23, 2013 Author Report Posted January 23, 2013 Thanks for yor response mat, will check floor and filter, however my rear washer jet works fine and the missus hasnt complained about wet feet yet :) AS for the vents, when the windscreen works nothing comes out of any of the side vents. the fixed grill, or the adjustableone or even the Slit vent by the small quarter panle at each side of the dash. If they work on yours I geuss theres a problem here I need to look further into. Will update formum when weather leaves off long enough for me to get active :) Thanks again. Quote
xavier Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 Mine are complete rubbish too. Plugging into VCDS did identify an obstruction with the motor which I need to investigate (I think you can get it out from behind the glove box. I would be interested in knowing where I can get a pollen filter for £12 though! Quote

If not turn it on , this may clear up your windows misting. Quote
