Jazzman Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 hello, I woke up this morning to the sound of my car alarm going off. I ran out into the driving rain to find all my windows down, hazzards on and a car full of water!! I've taken in for a diagnostic test with a view to repair but it looks like the alarm system may be damaged. Has this happened to anyone else? It's not the first time rain has built of due to the engine drain holes clogging up with leaves and dirt, but it's never got to this stage before! Any feed back would be very, very welcome. Thanks,Jon Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 It's probably because you have had the indoor swimming pool syndrome under your front passenger seat. The "global opening" feature has been activated by accident, then the alarm has been triggered by movement of air through the interior and/or insects flying in and out. You need to make sure that the electronics boxes under the front passenger seat are dried out thoroughly, or replaced if necessary. Quote
Guest nimrod Posted June 23, 2004 Report Posted June 23, 2004 If you remove the unit and crack it open you can dry it it out properly and check the circuit board for any signs of corrosion caused by the water/damp! use an electrical cleaning fluid wd 40 or such like to clean and repell the moisture any stubborn build up should be removed by brushing it off with a soft brush, an old tooth brush is ok, with any luck you may have caught it in time and saved the unit and the expence of replacing it! Guest 2MPV Posted June 28, 2004 Report Posted June 28, 2004 To prevent a reoccurrence you need to clean out your skuttle drains, your pollen filter may also be saturated and need replacement. There is some great advice with photos for sorting this out on this site. Quote
