nickyt1973 Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 Just taken delivery of a 11 month old Ford galaxy titanium x 2.0l tdci 163. Fuel economy is quoted as a range from a tank of 764miles, urban 42.2mpg, extra urban about 60mpg and combined about 52. Can get no more than about 35mpg even on long journeys! Last tank gave me a mere 460 miles! I had a 2.0l ghia for 3 years prior to this (a 56 plate) and got well in excess of these values out of that age car which is predicted to give much lower economy than this new one. Diagnostics show no fault codes. Appreciate you never get figures quoted but 300 miles less out of a tank and only about 60-65% mpg? Coupled with this my old one gave better fuel economy. Garage reckons this is correct and same across the board? Is it really? Quote
gregers Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) chrispy has a mk3 he should be able to give an opinion as with a few others on here, but in my house hold we have 2 smax's with the same engine, only difference is the wifes has 17k on the clock where as i have 105k and i get far better economy out of mine then she does.also mine seems to accelerate better and overall feels faster.i put this down to hers being a newer car and not loose enough.dunno what your mileage is? 1 thing i do know for a cert is they aint no where as good as my old mk2 tdi. davewill Posted January 14, 2013 Report Posted January 14, 2013 Nicky Is it a manual or a "powershift" (automatic) model??? I have the 2.0l tdci 140ps "powershift" 2010 model, that now has 47,000 miles on it I found that mpg got better after it had done around 20,000 miles, but i also find that driving it in "manual" mode, (rather than letting the auto box dictate when the engine changes up and down gears) gives me around 7 to 8 mpg more over a long journey If i drive from Midlands to London in "auto" mode doing 70mph on Motorways i will get around 41mpg If i do same journey in "manual" mode changing gears myself, i will get around 48mpg Overall my average for all driving (motorways and towns etc) over 1000 miles is around 42mpg As i say this is for the 140ps tdci so not sure if this is quoted as better or worse mpg than the 163 version Quote
nickyt1973 Posted January 14, 2013 Author Report Posted January 14, 2013 HiThanks for replies. Mine is a 163 and has done a mere 6500 miles and is only 11 months old. I've only had it for 2 months. I can't believe the difference to my old one when I expected such better performance from the new one as it was advertised as such.Nicky Quote
