galantlad Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 some towbars can be converted to removable types ie Towsure and witter check with the manufacturer and or installer. My Towsure towbars came as a fixed towball bracket and was easily converted to a removable one as i was aware of the reverse parking sensors before i bought it so got the removable part from the start, but if i put the fixed ball part on the the bar the sensors detected it and beeped all the time Quote
wardmw Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 I noticed this on my new (to me) one and seemingly just cleaning the sensors fixed it. Well, it worked for me! :( |\/|artin Quote
Tigger Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 I have a fixed towbar no problem> have you got the electrics on a bracket thats moved and could be bent back? I also have a stabalizer bracket fixed with no problem. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 27, 2004 Report Posted June 27, 2004 ..and dealers can re-programme the sensors to take account of a towbar (for a fee, of course). Quote
Guest Aussie Phil Posted July 7, 2004 Report Posted July 7, 2004 Hi Everyone. I'm new to contributing to this forum but have been reading for several months. I'm not new to the Galaxy however as I am in my 3rd year as a Gal owner and a very happy one at that. Regarding this parking sensor issue, I had exactly the same problem when I had my Witter towbar fitted last year. It took a bit of trial and error to sort out and required permanent removal of the bumper protector plate and relocating the 2 electric sockets under the towbar. These measures stopped the sensors from triggering and all works OK now. The towball cover, if you have one, can also cause false triggering if its not on correctly. Hope this helps.Phil Quote
