otronics Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Hi. I have a Ford Galaxy Ghia 2005 P reg. The passenger seat is stuck - it can recline OK, but it cannot physically move backwards and forwards to give more foot room. I have given it several good pushes etc and it is stuck good. From what I can see, it looks like the mechanism is locked into one of the grooves that holds it in place. Where do I go from here? Will taking the seat out, fixing and putting it back in again be easy or worth it? Thanks. Oliver. Quote
acecard Posted December 31, 2012 Report Posted December 31, 2012 Its often a coin thats got trapped into the runner and then got severely mangled with the seat being forced onto it - eventually it just jams in place - worth checking because its not easy to see Quote
otronics Posted January 2, 2013 Author Report Posted January 2, 2013 Hi. I have had a good look around - no coins or other foreign objects anywhere. Any more tips etc? Quote
acecard Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 I guess you could try spraying around with WD40 letting it soak in and then get physical with it again - other than that, looks like you're gonna have to dismantle to find out exact cause  Quote
otronics Posted January 2, 2013 Author Report Posted January 2, 2013 WD40 all sprayed. Still stuck! Any tips on how to take it apart..? Quote
new nige Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 not sure if you mean rear passanger, if so i had a latch or spring that pinged off a location hole, relocated and it worked again. Quote
otronics Posted January 2, 2013 Author Report Posted January 2, 2013 Hi. If only it was! Front passenger seat is the one affected. Quote
otronics Posted January 12, 2013 Author Report Posted January 12, 2013 This is now solved. I took it to the garage in the end but it took them a while to fix. A piece of plastic had become wedged in the runner. Quote
acecard Posted January 12, 2013 Report Posted January 12, 2013 its the variation of the coin wedged in runner as I said before - usually bits fallen from pockets.A pity you didnt spot it as the garages are a tad expensive on these 'investigations' and then afterwards you kick yourself - I know I did years ago with same problem.Glad its sorted for you -now you can reach the pedals! otronics Posted January 13, 2013 Author Report Posted January 13, 2013 Indeed. It is a pity I did not spot it but the guys had to take the seat off to access the plastic. Luckily, it didn't cost me anything. Quote
acecard Posted January 13, 2013 Report Posted January 13, 2013 A free garage! - not very common in these parts.. - Quote
