Lecky Guy Posted December 28, 2012 Report Posted December 28, 2012 My Aux Heater stopped working early this year- she's a 2001 1.9TDi 6 Speed Manual, following some threads on here I removed it & attempted to strip it down, however it was to far gone with all screws corroded & even the cables in a bad way, I simply linked the pipes that came in & out of the heater & have been using like that since, however I was thinking that pumping coolant all the way to the rear under the car (where it gets further cooled by ambient air) is why she's taking so long to warm up (15 minutes on a cold morning). Could I simply link the pipes that go the the rear matrix at the rear engine bulkhead, this should result in a lot quicker warm up. Once warm the front heater kicks out more than enough heat. Any thoughts please Thanks Quote
f0ster Posted December 29, 2012 Report Posted December 29, 2012 hello I do not think it will make much difference to the warm up period, they are just very slow to warm up, the cooling effect of the rear pipes surface area is minimal to non existent, you could cover them with insulation and you could also blind off half the radiator, after all this radiator is used in lots of different climates and so a cold climate like ours can cope with less radiator showing, Quote
