I have ordered an elm 327 latest version from fleabay with bundled software plus additional diagnostic software from a different source, which says it covers tramsmissions. Should be here just after xmass.

 

Anyone had something simillar? any tips on what to look for with diagnostic software?

 

An ELM327 based cable will only read data from the Ford engine. For most of the other electrical systems, including the auto gearbox, you will need a VAG-COM cable like this one and either VCDS or VAG-COM software.

Situation Update - Fixed

 

Checked out ATM controller and found fault logged "intermittent communication with ECU", wiggled wires, reset faults, reset MIL and all is working again properly.

Now have interface cable, VCDS Lite and OBD2 Easy Scan at a fraction of the £70 per hour diagnostic fee wanted by dealer who couldn't find fault after 2 hours. My diagnostic and fix time less than 15 mins. Thanks for the help posted here for me.
