harryp Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 Hello, I'm considering buying a 2008(58) Ford Galaxy. The dealer has told me, and confirmed, the VIN number (chassis number). This has the 10thdigit 'M'. Everything I've read has said that the 10th digit encodes the year, and that for 2001-2009 it should be 1-9 (and for 2010-2012, A-C). 'M' would indicate a chassis made in 1991. Could there be an innocent explanation here? The 11th digit is 8, but I thought the 10th digit was always for the year? I'd be grateful for any advice!
