Stereo Dials Unresponsive

Today for no know reason the dials on our stereo have become unresponsive.

Can't change the volume with the dial on the left or the station dial on the right.

They turn quite freely but will not do anything to the funtions.

 

It was fine all morning just...fine then not!!!!

 

Any ideas?
