Argrdnr Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 Is this easy to fix as my wiring loom wires have fraud and some have spilt. I think I have to undo the tailgate surround to get access to the wires so I can try and fix them. Any advice will be appreciated. Quote
gregers Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 look in the faqs,im sure there is a detailed post on repairing the wires. Quote
Argrdnr Posted October 13, 2012 Author Report Posted October 13, 2012 I can only find one for the rear door Quote
gregers Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 then do a search on the forum.ie tailgate wiring or something like that and see what gets thrown up.it has come up numerous times over the years, and iirc some kind sole has posted pics/repair instructions. Quote
Argrdnr Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 Sorted the cables now, just took the tailgate plastic off and found some slack, few connectors later and it's now all sorted :-) Quote
dlt1617 Posted October 16, 2012 Report Posted October 16, 2012 Sorry to say if you used connectors it wont last too long, the best way is to remove the rear top corner trim inside the car, remove the tail gate trim and disconnect the wiring. Once you have done this pull the harness into the car remove the tape so the you can cut the wire and solder in new wires so the the bit where the harness "hinges" has a single piece of wire rather than a join. The reason for this is as the breaks are due to fatigue because the wire gets folded forwards and back when the tailgate is opened and closed it will break a solder connection quite quickly. Best wishes Dave Quote
Argrdnr Posted October 18, 2012 Author Report Posted October 18, 2012 I've managed to sort it with connectors and cover them in black tape and then with duct tape, seems ok at the mo Quote
