Stabata Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 hey guys looking for some advice. got a 96 (P reg) 2.0L petrol galaxy and its fine except for a couple of really irratating problems. first one is the airbag light is constantly on, anyone got any idea how to solve this ? second is that when i switch the headlights on at night the console doesnt light up, neither do any of the backlit buttons on the centre console. they did work when i got the car so obviously something has gone wrong but i checked all the fuses and they seem fineso i am stumped, whats odd though is all the warning lights work, oh and the digital mileage displey works as well. just not the back light for the buttons or speedo or tachometer etc. would really appreciatte some help on this one please. thanks Quote
seatkid Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) Airbag light maybe due the "clock spring" in the steering wheel that provides the connection to the steering wheel airbag. It may also be an intermittent connection. The only way to extinguish the light once it comes on is via a diagnostic. This can be done with a VAGCOM / VCDS cable. Of course if the problem that caused it is still there, the light will come back on, but VAGCOM will give you a better idea where to look with more detail. All dash lights out - check the small wires that are connected directly to the positive terminal of your battery, one of these may have broken off. Edited October 10, 2012 by seatkid Quote
