Is there a Galaxy Doctor in the house?

The patient - 1996 Galaxy

The symptoms - the clamp on the adjustable steering column grips, but not tight enough. Prior to every journey, and sometimes during one, I have to readjust the column.

Solution - ??

Can I just wedge a lump of rubber (example) in it somewhere to tighten the grip? If so, where?

Thanks

Remove the lower steering column cover.

Unlock the adjustment lever and on the opposite side of the shaft at the bottom of the lever there is a small nut (it may not be a hex nut). Rotate this slightly then test it to get the tension correct.
