easycyclers Posted October 7, 2012 Report Posted October 7, 2012 I have a 96 P reg Galaxy.Usual problems have been found regarding cruise, passenger swimming pool etc. However I have one I have not read about. Under the bonnet, nearside, I have another fuse/relay box.My problem is that I have a fuse that has completely disintergrated. The plastic is embedded into the holder and the metal pins removed. I know the pins are out as I did that trying to remove the damage left by previous owners.Nothing seems to have stopped working, but the fuse must have been substantial as the wiring to it is approx 4mm.It is not the 32v lego brick fuse, but one slightly smaller in size, although same colour. What did it connect to? Any ideas? Quote
gregers Posted October 7, 2012 Report Posted October 7, 2012 look in the faqs for melting fuse box, common problem. Quote
seatkid Posted October 7, 2012 Report Posted October 7, 2012 (edited) This is a Mk1 Gregs, not the melt prone MK 2. The fusebox easycyclers refers to is for glowplugs, radiator fan and some other things which I cant remember. To check the fan is working, turn the a/c on, fan should come on at half speed. easycyclers Posted October 7, 2012 Author Report Posted October 7, 2012 (edited) SeatKidMy car is not equiped with air con, and according to the dashboard temp guage, the rad fan must work very well as the temp rarely strays far into the normal territory. The vehicle is also petrol powered. Perhaps this is the reason why I have noticed no problem. But having jiggled it a bit, and dug a bit more crap, I now have the airbag light on permanently, and the central locking no longer works. (Although that is probably due to having pulled out and cleaned the ecu after installing the passenger footbath on Friday night) So following that, could I assume the fuse is connected to the airbag circuit? If so, is it also 30 amp (colour matching the lego brick), and would it be better to chop out that holder and replace with an inline holder? Thanx (As an aside, is there a forum for discussing the fixing of the clamp on the adjustable steering column? Save starting a new one. Search option not successful) Edited October 7, 2012 by easycyclers Quote
