nkswinburne Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 Hi My 2001 2.8 auto Galaxy has a problem with the starter inhibitor, need to rock the leaver back and forth to start some times works first time some times not. I was hoping one of you wonderful people would be able to point me in the right direction to fixing this, or maybe bypassing the inhibitor for the time being. Any help would be much appreciated  Quote
victor meldrew Posted October 6, 2012 Report Posted October 6, 2012 On the mk 1s the inhibitor switch is located under the selector trim and is adjusted with a small grubscrew. Easy fix, make small adjustments( half turn) at a timeHope yours is the same Quote
nkswinburne Posted October 10, 2012 Author Report Posted October 10, 2012 Thanks for the advice but looks like on the mk2 its been moved, the only thing under the trim it the locking solenoid. I guess it must be on the gearbox where the cable goes in, which I'm sure will be a pig to get to. If it carries on might just run a cable and button from battery to the starter. Thanks again :( Quote

It runs right beside the gear selector and was rubbing causing it to short out. Cable replaced now starting much better. Thanks again for your advice. Quote
