Poor Mpg Only Gets 14 Mpg For 2.3 Auto Galaxy 2003 Model

Bought this stupid car from a dealer then realised it is drinking petrol like anything had a chat with dealer they says it has passed the Mot so they can't do anything

I had a new 2.3 auto some time back and mixed urban and dual carriageway only got around 20mpg. So if yours is all short runs around town etc then it's not too bad.

IF THE CAR IS NOT AS DESCRIBED then you can demand a refund,iirc this comes under the sale of goods act.

if there are no faults with the car,then it comes down to your research or lack of it.

i had a 2ltr petrol and to be honest think the most i got out of it was around 25 to the gallon,NEVER AGAIN.

count your self lucky you havnt got a v6,mind you it gets you there before youve even left. :)

I get 24mpg all day everyday on short journeys! I then get 30 mpg on a run, so don't tarnish the v6 with the mpg figures above.

 

I would suspect that your car needs a really good service or bring your foot off the loud pedal a little bit!

hi, check you coil's are firing on all cylinders and check if mass air sensor is actually connected.

Convert to lpg it's brills, 70p per ltr my 2.3 manual can do 200 miles on a tank, that's 38ltrs at a cost of 26 quid

Its the reason I don't buy petrol cars any more. TBH I don't think 14mpg is that unexpected for a big car like the gal.

I once had a Vauxhall VX490 twin carb job and also an MG magnette back in the good old days - don't think I ever got more than 15mpg out of either of them. There again petrol was only 7/6 a gallon. On the other hand I was only earning about a tenner a week.

Overjoyed with diesel gal - never less than 40mpg even when fully loaded and used around town most of the time - actually beats my Fiat Punto petrol on mpg - crazy..
