seatkid Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 You didnt look very hard then ;) Almost certainly anti roll bar link(s) worn, covered by Tech FAQ nr 2 or just click here. Very common fault, and cheap and easy to fix. Quote
tin2.3 Posted September 19, 2012 Author Report Posted September 19, 2012 thanks for the help, dont know why i cant open faq links Quote
seatkid Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 You're using Internet Explorer.......which doesnt work with the FAQ or many other things too. Download Firefox, CHrome or Opera and you're good to go.... Quote
a18nkd Posted September 21, 2012 Report Posted September 21, 2012 hi a bit random but i also had a loud knocking noise when i went over bumps had the car up on a ramp checked all the usual anti-roll bars, drop links etc... all solid so back down and less than 10 mtrs from the ramp noise was still there then a couple of weeks later i found by accident that the battery was loose (leaned on the battery to try and look at engine mounts (got desperate) and the battery moved got a new bracket from scrappy's and bingo noise gone. The battery was nice and tight when i got the car but must of vibrated loose Quote
inchley313 Posted September 30, 2012 Report Posted September 30, 2012 I have a similar noise on mine and have found the front top mounts have had it. I have found a poly bush replacement by floflex on ebay for about £35 so will be fitting these soon. I'll let you know how they do!! Quote
sparky Paul Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 (edited) I have a similar noise on mine and have found the front top mounts have had it. I have found a poly bush replacement by floflex on ebay for about £35 so will be fitting these soon. I'll let you know how they do!! Before you start ripping it to bits, make sure that the top mounts are indeed kaput. It is quite normal for there to be a considerable amount of movement in the top mount when the weight is off the wheel, due to the floating design of the top suspension mounts... this is often mistaken for a fault. inchley313 Posted October 5, 2012 Report Posted October 5, 2012 Yup!! Pretty sure the top mounts are gone!! I jacked it up and the top of the strut feels like it's loose. It moves backwards and forwards about 5mm either way. Checked the top nut and thats tight. Quote
