cos140 Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 Hi there averyone, I have a Mk2 Gal V6 24v (ex police)and when I purchased it I had Dunlop Sp2020EXL's fitted and they were good. Lasted approx 20-25k with normal driving. One year I decided to try another make, I went for Falkens. These tyres grip like hell but they have only lasted about 8k miles! So, as we have new tyres and tread patterns about now, when would you reccomend to replace my worn out Falkens? Do I go back to good old faithfull 2020's or try another pattern, or even different make? I, like everyone, is after the best of both worlds. A cheap tyre that works well and lasts for ages :-) I dont mind spending the extra for a good tyre but if I do I would like to get about 20k out of them again. It doesnt get driven hard so should be ok. Your thoughts and comment would be much appreciated. Best regardsJustin Quote
sparky Paul Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) I've been quite pleased with these Marshal Matrac XM KH35 on the front. I tried them on the strength of a good write up in Auto Expess tyre test, and no problems so far - wearing okay, nice and predictable in the wet, and not noisy. edit: they were about £60 per tyre (supply only), probably a bit dearer now. I would certainly go for the same tyre again. Edited September 12, 2012 by sparky Paul Quote
acecard Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Not found any that have lasted like the original Dunlops. Currently doing quite well on Goodyear Optigrips.Do make sure tracking is spot on as the Gal will go through them like butter otherwise. Quote
chromedome Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 I am currently using Kumho tyres. So far very pleased with them. What ever tyre you choose make sure they are rated as Extra Load or Re-enforced. Quote
