mrmadcats Posted September 5, 2012 Report Posted September 5, 2012 The parking sensors on my 'facelift' 2001 2.3 have stopped working. Instead, they just scream. I think there's something up with the electrics, because one day I got in the car to find the radio needed the PIN put in, and the sensors started working again. (I have had a long-term intermittant problem which the garage couldn't solve, where the engine won't turn over when I want to start it. It only happens about once every few months) The sensors have since failed again though... Quote
cos140 Posted September 12, 2012 Report Posted September 12, 2012 I have found wires behind the front bumper damaged, caused by rubbing. Also, the sensors themselves. Put your ear to them and they should constantly click away. If it doesnt it's either faulty or has a cable/power problem. Quote
mrmadcats Posted January 14, 2013 Author Report Posted January 14, 2013 After swveral months, and fo no apparent reason, the sensors have started working again. But only after the speedo, tacho, temp and fuel guages (that's all the 'conventional' dials on the dash; the digital display of ambient temperature is OK) all failed together...what could be happening? I've read that the speedo comes off the gearbox, but I wouldn't have thought the fuel and temperature does. Quote
