Is it possible to permanently disable the interior alarm sensing? I.e., the ultrasonic sensors which detect movement within the car?

At the moment, I have to use the double anti-clockwise twist of the key to turn off the interior sensors. if I don't do this, then the alarm goes off - in the middle of the night sometimes!

I thought abotu sticky tape over the sensor holes, but maybe there is something less of a bodge.

Car is 1999 2.3 Ghia.

thanks

This is usually due to either a window being partly open (abriubt temperature change) or a spider being resident in one or both door pillars where the sensors are located.

Maybe you can switch it off with VAGCOM (I dont know) or pull a fuse (again I dont know)

I had a problem with the alarm going off at night and it proved to be wires in the harness between the tailgate and body that were broken.

I f you pull back the gaitor on the driver's and undo the tape on the harness you may find several wires broken.

On mine I seem to remember 8 or 9 wires were broken!

Best wishes

Hi, it is possible to disable the inner sensors but just with IDS ford diagnostics I believe, but if you just want to disable them at night when you lock the car with the remote if you press once the lights flash and the inner right door is flashing every couple of seconds.

but if you press the lock button twice it will flash on the 1st time and when you press the second time it will disable the inner sensors and you can confirm this by checking the door light ins't flashing but the door remain closed.

Cheers

xotas is right, at least on the MKII, press the lock on the remote control twice in quick succession. The Door LED should Flash once remain off for a few seconds, then it will return to the normal flash. However, the sensors are off. I believe the double dead lock is also off though (car is still locked). If you press the lock on the remote again, the car will double dead lock (you'll hear it) and sensors come on.

I had an issue with rear windows (manual crank) dropping down over time, could be one of these is slightly open. Also check there is no movement in car from unretracted seat belts, loose sun-visors etc. mine has only ever gone off twice, once when the sat nav fell off the window and once when the glove box popped open (stuffed too full!).

Is your car parked on the road? fast passing car can sometimes set it off if too close when car rocks.

I am having this issue at the moment with random activations through the night!

I noticed last night that the plunger (that detects the door when it closes) on the off side rear door is missing and the previouse owner appears to have filled it with a stopper of some sort????

Thought this might be the problem but the alarm sound inermitantly and not all the time when its locked up.

Any advise on other problems to look for?

Hi welcome to the forum, you'll find this an absolute gold mine of information on the Galaxies! If you cannot find something on the Common problems section try doing a search as this a lot of the time can produce some great results.

If you are having problems with the alarm activating I would have a look to see if the interior light is on if so the door switch could be your problem....but if the main interior light is not on check the interior lights in the boot as my problem was masked by the roller blind in the boot as I could not see the lights on until I left the blind open. If the lights are on in the boot when the alarm goes of pull back the gaitor on the driver's side at the top of the boot and if you pull off the tape around the harness you will probably find agroup of wires broken. The broken wires cause a short which then causes the car to thing the boot has been opened when the alarm is active.

I would recommend repairing all the wires as I did mine for this problem and repaired about 8 or 9 of them...unfortunately the no plate lamps go off as I open the boot so one of the others has now broken (bugger!)

Best wishes

Hi Dave,

No lights are on and the car locks as it should with the key and the fob!

The red light on the door activates on locking as well.

Last night no activations, then one about 10 minutes ago and none since!

I will have a look at the wiring like you advised an will see if that turns anything up.

(Oh how my neighbours love at the minute!)
