Ford Galaxy Starting Problem/abs Light On/losing Power

Hi everyone. Can anyone shed some light on the following problem please?

 

I have a Ford Galaxy 1.9 TDI diesel automatic 2005 Mk II.

 

Whilst driving, the ABS and sealt belt lights come on, and the air conditioning fails. The car loses power and shudders. When turned off, it won't start for 30 mins or so, and then will eventually start again, (it will start with a jump start though). This happened whilst on holiday in South of France, and the local Ford Dealer carried out diagnostic computerised tests and changed the battery. Hasn't made any difference though and cost me 250.00 euros!

 

My european breakdown service is now in the process of getting the car transported back to England. I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Check the main power distribution/fusebox in the engine compartment for signs of overheating/melting. There is a common fault where the crimp on the the main wire from the alternator is faulty, causing overheating/meted/damaged fusebox and poor or no charging and bad voltage regulation.

 

The fusebox in question is located in the engine compartment in front of the battery.

Many thanks for taking the time to reply, Seatkid. Your reply makes a lot of sense to me as it was very, very hot where we were. Also, the car was parked up in the heat for several days before the fault occurred. Will check it as soon as I get the car back. Many thanks again.
