Hi All,

My father in law recently noticed this lying underneath the engine'ish area, on his driveway.

He's a bit concerned that it's come off of his car, but the garages we've asked so far can't determine what it's for, including one who've had the Galaxy up on their ramp to have a 'nose around'.

...I tried to convince him it might not even be off his car (you never know :D ), but was hoping one of you maybe able to put our minds at rest?

It's a small spring, with a plastic connector at one end (which appears to have small teeth inside of it, which may have gripped onto something at some point, with a small metal bracket on the other end.

All in all it's approx 12cm in length.

Any ideas anyone?

Cheers

Doogie

From TIS after reading gregers post looks like it may be this bit.

You can probably tell, but it's under the car where the two hand brake cables join the cable coming from the handbrake. The "teeth" will be the thread where it screws onto the end of the thread on the end of the handbrake cable. I would guess his handbrake may not be pulled down to the floor when he let's it off now (though it also does this when the mecahnism in the caliper seizes too!)

Gregers, SilverBeast..... We're SO SO SO SO grateful for all you help on this, inc. the pic showing exactly where the part's located  :D......I could sense the sigh of relief in his voice when I just called my father-in-law up to tell him the news :)

Thanks a million for your helpful advice - only wish the peugeot forums were this helpful everytime my wife's 307 packs up!

Until next time :)

Steve

The plastic bit is probably stripped inside and thats why it dropped off. A new one costs about 23p IIRC but has to be ordered specially. The hook on the spring goes into a hole on the chassis member. Edited by seatkid
