Central Locking, Over Heating, And The Rest .... Aghhhhhh!

Hi i am a new member on here, we purchased our galaxy about 1 month ago and have had nothing but problems :26: Our central locking on the 2 back passenger doors do not lock or unlock with the central locking key fob or the normal ford key??? Also we can not use the central locking key fob to start the car and have to use the other key??? The car keeps over heating, we have now replaced the thermostat and cleaned out one of the pipes that feeds the water back into the water pump as this was blocked ... so hoping this works?? The cooling fans will not activate when the engine is running, yet they are active when over ridden and manually connected? Also the rear passenger window does not work.... i know this is a long list but if anyone can shed any ideas on what may be causing these faults.

Your windows and doors not opening will be down to chaffed wires between the doors and pillars. The key will be down to probably missing 'PATS' chip or the fob needs reprogramming and the fans very rarely come on on my MK2 but definitely work. All your problems are quite common and have been discussed before to great lengths, just use the 'search' buttons or FAQ's.

take a look in our faqs found in the tech section of the forum.

you might have problems viewing or downloading any info if

1 you havnt made enough posts.iirc it's 5.

2 if your running internet explorer.their seems to be a problem with that format.

download one of the others ie firefox etc.

Ah... welcome to the wonderful world of Galaxy ownership. For me it's been a mixed blessing, my old one was pretty reliable for 160k, new one (very cheap) not so at the moment, but sure it will be... Very economical on diesel, great tow car, loads of space.

 

If you can post fuller vehicle details - your year, auto/manual, bhp (or engine type) it'll help pin down some of the answers.

Just a thought about your overheating if it still is (mine, like Saif's, rarely needs the fan - usual problem is getting it hot!)

but what sort of blockage was it you cleared out?
