Fuel Gauge

Hi

 

Our Galaxy (03 2.3 petrol zetec) does not read full of petrol when its full.

 

I have found out thro' ford that the sender unit is part of the fuel pump

 

@ £253.96 + vat.

 

Is there a way to test the gauge as replacing the pump is very expensive if it doesn't fix it.

Was told disconnect battery

 

on reconnection gauges flick to full as a test.

 

mine do not as i tried it.

I have a cheep fault code reader I brought of fleabay which included a copy of VCDS on a disc with it that allows you to test the gauges by allowing to trigger the gauges to go to thier full sweep - only cost about £10.00.
