Lost Key

hiya i have lost my ford galaxy key-year 1999 and do not have a spare, which is the cheapest way around this please as really can't afford much

I think your alternatives are to either replace all the bits that keys work (locks, immob, ecu perhaps - anybody) with a used set from a scrappy - or get a new key from either ford dealer or a vehicle locksmith. Personally I'd have thought getting a new key was a better bet, and for that I'd ring around. I'm afraid it'll probably be expensive - never ordered a Ford/VW key but Fiat quoted £100+ for one... Vehicle locksmith I have no idea...

Sorry you're lumbered like this - easily done - I've come close many times.

A vehicle locksmith would be first port of call as there are quite a few who have the necessary equipement to clone a key. I think 'Timpsons' the shoe people also duplicate keys. Telephone around for advice and prices - and as already said, never go the dealers but as a last resort as you will need a big fat wallet to go in and will be considerably smaller when you come out!

a decent auto locksmith should be able to supply/cut and code/clone a key for you.i think this is the only way to go as a visit to the dealers IS GOING TO COST A FORTUNE,i was quoted to have 1 other key done at fords in excess of 180 quid,and thats with 1 key.

timpsons can cut a new key for you,wont help as youve lost yours,and i do believe some of them can offer a cloning service again no good for you as you have no key to do it.so in essence your stuffed.

have you checked your insurance documents to see if your covered?you might be able to claim but weigh up the the excess you may have to pay.
