ARSENAL79PLACE Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 Folks, My last task is to locate the low pressure port for my Galaxy 2.3 05 plate so it can be re-gassed. Any ideas where this is? I'm led to beleive this where to re gas it from. Cheers Quote
seatkid Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 (edited) On the Mk1 (-2000) it is behind the drivers side front indicator, one screw and slide the indicator out to reveal. It may be somewhere else on the Mk2 A proper regas uses both ports. Edited July 4, 2012 by seatkid Quote
ARSENAL79PLACE Posted July 4, 2012 Author Report Posted July 4, 2012 Where is the other port then?? Just so i know when i get it done. Its a mechanic mate doing it on the side so if i can help with a bit of knowledge all the better. Plus. What is the actual process of re-gassing? Thanks Quote
seatkid Posted July 4, 2012 Report Posted July 4, 2012 The top one is the High pressure and the bottom one the low pressure. Take it to a place (e.g. kwikfit) that has a suitable machine that plugs into both ports, make sure they use both ports! Check they program it for the correct quantity of gas (there is a sticker with R134a quantities to the right of the bonnet latch) and the rest should be automatic. THe machine sucks out (recovers) any gas in your system and holds a vacuum for several or more minutes. This ensures that there is no obvious leak, and the vacuum "boils" off any water etc in the system. It then fills the system with the correct weight of gas and also should insert some PAG oil, the quantity being equal to the amount "recovered" plus sometimes a couple of cc extra, depending on the policy of the garage. Insist on keeping the report spewed out by the machine, it'll tell you how much came out and how much they put back in. Quote
ARSENAL79PLACE Posted July 6, 2012 Author Report Posted July 6, 2012 Folks, Update... Been to my garage today and they plugged it in both ports. The gas was empty and you could hear the a leak from the front of the car. It was just coming straight out. Any ideas where to go now? It is too much for the garage i go to sort out. Thanks Quote
SilverBeast Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 Best to get a recommended Mobile Air-Con specialist if you can. If you let people know where you live someone may be able to recommend one. I started this thread so people can do just that. Quote
seatkid Posted July 6, 2012 Report Posted July 6, 2012 you could hear the a leak from the front of the car. It was just coming straight out. They could have at least looked at where the leak was.......... :glare: Likely to be hole in the condensor (front radiator) or a split or corroded pipe. Quote
