Guest tryfan Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003  We have had our galaxy for about 18 months now, but alas we are now expecting our sixth child. So as you can gather we have not got enough room. We love the Galaxy and do not really want to go to the likes of a Toyota previa or the 806 peugot. So does anyone out there know of any company that manafacture a rear bench seat for the galaxy if there is one. Quote
Danny Boy Posted April 21, 2003 Report Posted April 21, 2003 Hi Well were just expecting our 7th child and only have a Galaxy!! We have not found anyway to overcome this problem yet! Luckily the eldest is 16 so she dont want to be going out with mommy and daddy all the time! I think we need a wheelbase extension and an extra row in the back!! If i find anything i'll let you know! We must be mad!! Quote
italiastar Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Hi - I once saw a "trailer" for a mini which was the rear half of another mini - maybe you could do this with a Galaxy and have either an extra 2 or 5 seats! Good luck - you both need it - I thought I was mad with 4! Quote
seatkid Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 The Galaxy is only certified as a seven seater - you couldn't get it insured as an eight seater. Quote
ALARM MAN Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 You folk ever thought of going to sleep in bed at night GNR have a nice road train im sure you could buythen you dont have to worry when to stop multiplying Ian Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 London Transport are selling off old Routemaster buses at the moment - there was an article on the bbc websire a couple of weeks ago. Starting price is from about Quote
Dally Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 This topic is of interest to me also. I have two small kids (10 & 8). But when my sister in laws family visit us from the usa we have this problem because they are four also. They are due to visit again this summer and a temporary solution for three weeks would be great - somthing like a bench type seat in the back like the Previa. isk Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 There is a company in Chelmsord or Colchester (can't remember exactly) that makes bench-type rear facing seats for most of the cars. I think this is the only way to legally accomodate 8 persons in your Galaxy. They charge no more than Quote
Guest nimrod Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 You could try... http://www.scotseats.co.uk Quote
gazza007 Posted March 13, 2004 Report Posted March 13, 2004 I think Colchester make limo's etc.My sister-in-law how has 5 kids bought a MK1 Granada from a Funeral director a number of years ago that had been stretched and had extra seats. They used to get some funny looks. Quote
Guest Angusbbb Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 I had a Chrysler Grande Voyager before my Galaxy and apart from it having loads more storage space behind the rear seat, an import version which you see often for sale on ebay has a middle row bench seat (the UK spec has two captains seats) which can take three, as well as the standard bench seat in the 3rd row. You would need to check out the insurance though! Jim Quote
Dally Posted March 25, 2004 Report Posted March 25, 2004 Angusbbb Yep, my sister has a Gand Voyager with the bench seat in the middle. It works well and provides just that bit more versatility. God knows why they don't offer that option here. The Galaxy could very easily accomodate a bench seat at the back (OK maybe only kids would get good use) and it too could give that extra versatility when required. Quote
Guest cgbowser Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 I did see a programme on the TV (might have been fifth gear or similar) in which a guy had bought an ex-Post office post bus, this would have plenty of seats, although being based on a Sherpa van, I don't think the handling or interior would quite be up to Galaxy standards. I think he said he'd got it for about 4 grand which sounded a little steep. Quote
