ade Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 right ok to tell the story had the misses complain abot 2 weeks ago about the lake that had formed in the car. She wasnt happy :( So with help from this forum i knowingly told her that the water pipe for the rear wash wipe had come loose. so I disconnected the rear feed, cut the mat out to dry out, and then reasembled a couple of days later. Job done or so i thought. Now last week the loch had reappared complete with nessie the monster. More ear bashing pursued. So back to the forum, must be the scuttle drains i concluded :). a half hour or so of work only to find after removing the wheel arch linings that there was no blockages and i could easily get a couple of finger throught the hold. So now I'm stumpped. If anyone has any futher ideas i'd be glad to try them. Quote
SilverBeast Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Did you look above the scuttle tray in the engine bay? You have to remove the wipers and the panel around them first to do this. If it's clogged up in there water can spill over the bulkhead, or even through the pollen filter and the heating system. If you've scoured the Forum I'm sure you would have seen this. If it has a sunroof the sunroof one of the drains can become detached in the headlining and the water that should be draining that way can run down the inside of the screen, into the back of the dash and ... into the footwell. Not experienced this myself, read about it in the Forums, apparently it can leave a streak down the inside of the screen on the passenger (or drivers?) side about a foot from the centre line. I guess the pipe runs down the A pillar somewhere. Maybe if you remove the trim from the passenger A pillar trim the pipes in there, if it's deteriorated it may leak and run into the footwell? Good luck,Richard You haven't had the screen replaced have you? A leaking screen could also cause water to come in? Quote
ade Posted June 24, 2012 Author Report Posted June 24, 2012 stripped out the roof lining yesterday both drains were attached but ended up siliconing the sunroof as the motor had faied anyway. thought one less thing it could be. still stumped though? Quote
BigRik13 Posted June 24, 2012 Report Posted June 24, 2012 I've bored people with this before but my leak was from one of the clip holes that hold the trim in place under the passenger wiper bolt. Remove the wiper from it's spindle and check the plastic piece. I sealed the holes, cut the clips off and stuck the trim back with a load of silicon sealant. A bit Heath Robinson but no more leaks! chromedome Posted June 24, 2012 Report Posted June 24, 2012 How did you reconnect the rear washer pipe. Using super glue and a couple of cable ties is the best way or it can pop apart again. Quote
ade Posted June 25, 2012 Author Report Posted June 25, 2012 haven't yet... i disconnected the rear wash pipe from the reservoir under the n/s bumper Quote
