AndyK480 Posted May 27, 2012 Report Posted May 27, 2012 G'day folks, Wondering if you'd be able to help this new kid on the block out. I have a 2000 Mk2, 1.9TDi which has ceased to provide vented air from the blowers on settings 1 and 2. For air we have to crank it up to 3 or 4, the air con air doesn't work in the front section of the car too - but is ok when selected in the back.On advice from a mate I replaced the blower control unit, with no change to the symptoms! Is this a common issue? Does it sound like an expensive fix? Could I fix it myself, if so where would I locate the faulty bit/s? Many thanks in advance for any advice. Andy Quote

AndyAlmost certainly the 'hedgehog' resistor pack - plenty of advice on here - try link below http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/21351-air-con-turning-off-when-moving-fan-to-position-3/page__p__157719__hl__resistor+pack__fromsearch__1#entry157719 Quote
AndyK480 Posted June 4, 2012 Author Report Posted June 4, 2012 Acegard you're a STAR Replaced the hedgehog and it's working a treat again now. The thread you hooked me up with was right - getting the glovebox off is the worst part, but it is all straight forward from then. Now the resistor is changed the aircon smells a wee bit, but I reckon it just needs a good blow through as it's not been used for a while. Thank again Andy Quote
acecard Posted June 9, 2012 Report Posted June 9, 2012 Looks like you won't need the aircon the way the weathers turning - glad everythings working again. Quote
mrhclarke Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 I have only had my Galaxy for a week and a half. One thing I have noticed is that the fan speed isn't very good compared to my other cars. I had it checked by a Ford specialist and he said they are all a bit rubbish. Can anyone confirm this? Even on speed 4 there is plenty of noise but not enough speed to even make my hair move! Quote
alan_131 Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 Should be better than that I'd have thought. Others will know better than me things that go wrong in the control flaps, fan etc, but is it the same when you have recirc. selected? I've read that some members have experienced a big improvement after changing the pollen filter...http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php?/topic/1539-how-to-change-a-pollen-filter/page__hl__pollen+filter Quote
