liam_b Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Hi 2008 Galaxy 1.8 TDi Ghia Was driving on a busy dual carriageway yesterday and slowing down (going down through the gears) on the approach to a roundabout. The steering suddenly became heavy and I realised that engine had cut out. Tried to restart a number of times but while the starter engaged nothing happened. A few people stopped to help and we pushed the car into the side of the road and relative safety. Called breakdown assist who said they'd be there in an hour. Another man stopped and we tried again to start it and this time it spluttered twice but didn't start. His theory was that it was some sort of fuel issue,e.g dirty fuel line, air pocket in the the line or maybe even the diesel pump. He left and we waited and I then tried again (probably about 45 mins now since it cut out) and it started. By now we were getting late for a show that the kids were going to so we decided to cancel the service call and go. No further problems - drove 100 miles home later on and everything is fine since. In hindsight I'm sorry I didn't wait for the breakdown assist to arrive as now I have no idea what happened and is it going to happen again etc. I did fill the car up full with diesel (from nearly empty) a few days ago. There were no warning lights on the dash (that I noticed anyway) and I can't think of anything else. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated Liam Quote
gregers Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 try doing the onboard diagnostic check to see if any codes have been stored.also might be worth phoning fords and asking what the latest software update is for your current car, again iirc diag test should be able to tell you what version your running?.
