Guest Bri Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 I have had my faults on my autobox analysed with a specialist and it has diagnosed faults on the autobox ECU and solenoid no:6. I will have to buy a new GBox ECU and I was wondering if there is a cheaper way of purchasing them rather than going to Ford. Is VW or Seat ECU's the same and are they cheaper? are there other makers of ECU's.Your input would be appreciated. Quote
Guest EVSS Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 well its a vw engine and box and you will find a vw nunber on the ecu next to the battery on the inner wing. so its up to you most breakers will let you try them if your straight with them. garyif you try a secondhand ecu try the harness as well as this may be your problem they get stretched if the box is allowed to hang on them or as engine rocks.where abouts are you in the country? as i think i have a ecu here somewhere.its for a 98 ghia auto. Guest Bri Posted June 14, 2004 Report Posted June 14, 2004 Hi EVSS I am based near Newport Gwent, the Autobox is a Jatco japanese box fitted from 2000ish onwards, so I do not know if your ECU is compatible? Quote
