I brought a Galaxy MK2 a month ago .I have just fitted a towbar .I was not impressed by the strength of the pastic bumper. When the towbar is fitted the steel mounting plate for bumper is removed.I hope the plastics hold up now.I like the car but find the engine sound quite noisy when accelerating. It is a diesil though.Hope to hear from members, but I am new to forums.Bye

I am not a new member, I have been a member for ages. I have just found I can't view photos. Don't think I had this problem before.

I've been told by one of the administrators that to cure this I need to make one more post in the new member

introduction area. But here it tells me I can't start a new topic. So I'm tagging onto this thread, in the

hope that does the trick for me.

you must make 5 posts before the forum opens up to you,but if you are running explorer then it is known that it wont work properly with this forum, unless admin have fixed the problem with the recent upgrade?

make a few more posts here and when you get to the magic number i will delete them,so not to make this thread confusing.

Came across this by accident this morning. Might be rather late, but I had a towbar fitted to my 97 Galaxy about 3 years ago. It's a Witter unit, and mounts by removal of the big plastic reinforcing member inside the bumper external molding. Mine was professionally fitted, and although I wasn't there the whole time I couldn't see any way that the external molding could have been left in place with this unit - maybe the official Ford/VW one is different. Anyway, to get to the point, the bumper external moulding is now secured only by resting on the towbar and the screw in each rear wheel arch, and after 3 years the lacquer on the body has been damaged by the movement this allows - so if yours is the same, you might want to keep an eye on it...
