PaulMag Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 Hi ppl, i have a problem. Started the car today and saw i bit off greyish smoke, just thought it was from start up off the car. Was driving down the street and noticed quite alot off smoke coming from a exhaust well i think it is anyway, its near the back wheel its a thin pipe. Was a awful lt off smoke, but after 5-10mins it stopped. I have a galaxy ghia 1.9 tdci if that helps, many thanks Quote

Also in the Tech FAQ's (doesnt work with IE, requires Firefox,Chrome,or Opera)Usually the glowplug has gone. Lots of threads on how to change this if you search. Can be disabled by pulling the thermoswitch (located just above the pollen filter) or pulling a fuse (I don't which one) You need your car year to ascertain what fuse it is. Quote
SilverBeast Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 (edited) It sounds like your auxillary/booster heater isn't starting. This is usually caused by the glow plug failing.See item one in the Frequenctly Asked Questions (It doesn't work with Internet Explorer - I'm using FireFox). Pictures are on Page 6. When it doesn't ignite it blows the vaporised unburnt diesel out of it's exhaust. The heater itself is under the left middle row seat and the exhaust is in a similar region. Edit 22:27: Looks like seatkid was loitering at the same time as me and beat me to it! -_- Edited May 7, 2012 by SilverBeast Quote
PaulMag Posted May 8, 2012 Author Report Posted May 8, 2012 Many thnaks for all your help, i will try and find problem now and fix. Sorry thought it was a tdci as thats what i says on recipt. Quote
PaulMag Posted May 9, 2012 Author Report Posted May 9, 2012 Pulled fuse out and it has stopped the smoke blowing out, but obvioulsly it is there for a reason so i need to solve it rather than just taking a fuse out as its must have its purpose. I cannot find any more info on this topic, any help out there? Quote
